NASHVILLE —The Tennessee State football team aims to secure its first opening-day victory since 2019 when the Tigers host Mississippi Valley State in the 25th edition of the John Merritt Classic at Nissan Stadium on Saturday at 5 p.m. TSU hopes to recreate the success of their last meeting on August 31, 2019, when they defeated Mississippi Valley State 26-20.
